Sweepers Playlist

Sweepers is about a five-member, veteran, wise-cracking crew of the mineral survey ship Audrey is nearing the end of a long mission far from home. They receive a request from Fleet Command to investigate a space anomaly in their area in exchange for some extra pay. They are advised to retreat at the first sign of trouble. What could possibly go wrong? It’s The Twilight Zone meets Guardians of the Galaxy adventure.

The Crew:

Joshua Pagliuca as Captain Michael Bradley

Captain Michael Bradley – In his early thirties, Captain Bradley sports a thin beard and mustache and is always wearing a Mincorp cap. He’s been piloting the Mincorp mineral survey ship Audrey for over ten years and is very fond of the old ship. Always quick with a smile and a joke, Bradley tries not to take life too seriously. But, when things get dicey, he’s the one you want to have calling the shots.

Bradley is played by Joshua Pagliuca, a long time aficionado of all things Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Avidly devouring all the books and shows he could lay eyes upon throughout his childhood, he’s grown to become a passionate fan of the multiverse of series that have grown with the popularity inspired by pioneer shows like Star Trek. With a head for bad puns and clever twists, and a small background in high school theater and video productions, ending up with The Outer Rim team was an inevitable destination! Joshua is excited to bring his unique (if sometimes dark) sense of humor along with a cornucopia of half-brewed ideas… and of course a towel, all along with himself to the edge of The Outer Rim to help bring you all back daring stories of the astounding and the unbelievable.

Spencer Lemons as Donald Holland

Mineral Survey Specialist, Donald Holland (Speedy) – A young, thin man, Speedy is the nerd and biggest wise cracker of the group. Much like Rocket of Guardians of the Galaxy, the rest of the crew enjoy giving Speedy a hard time. No one else at Mincorp can do a sensor sweep of a planet faster than Speedy. He always makes any conversation interesting.

Spencer Lemons portrays Speedy. Spencer was born and raised on a farm in the Catskill Mountains. His family always had a healthy love for science fiction. Spencer went to his first Star Trek convention when he was seven. From then on, his hobbies always included a love for all forms of since fiction. Currently Spencer is a retail manager, but that doesn’t stop him from being a “geek.” He met James Bray through the 501st costume group and they quickly found out they both shared a great love for Sci-Fi.

Matthew Stebbins as Daniel Witherspoon

Mineral Survey Specialist, Daniel Witherspoon (Sharpie) – Alongside Speedy, the older and more reserved Sharpie is the other half of the mineral survey team. He analyzes the data from Speedy’s sensor sweeps looking for good mineral veins. He is known for his sharp eyes and ability to pick out mineral treasures in the massive data the sensor sweeps generate.

Matthew Stebbins has taken on the role of Sharpie.

Rod Barnes as Aaron Smitt

Chief Engineer, Aaron Smitt (Smitty) – A stout, middle-aged man, Aaron Smitt has served aboard the Audrey longer than anyone besides Captain Bradley. He and Bradley often trade barbs about the age and condition of the Audrey. But, everyone knows Smitt loves the old ship just as much as the captain does and can fix anything that might go wrong with her.

Smitty is played by Rod Barnes. Rod was born in Brooklyn, and originally wanted to be a scientist thanks to his exposure to science fiction. He would eventually begin a career as a Tech. Rod has executive-produced a Star Wars fan film production and also has a production company doing comedies, Vampire Fiction, Tech consulting, and drama. Happy to be on board. Loves his Sci-Fi!

Sarah Mitiguy as Lira Gonzales

Chief Medical Officer, Lira Gonzales – A tan, slender woman of Mexican-American heritage, Lira Gonzales is the doctor of the ship. She is in her early thirties. She and Captain Bradley are very close romantically and all of the other crew members know it.

Sarah Mitiguy joins the crew as Lira. Sarah has seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; she watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost, in time. Currently, she spends her days wrangling finances for the Office of Child Support, her nights attending college and any other available time at home, or on stage, with her daughter Esperanza.

She caught the acting bug in 2009, when she joined in a local community theater production of “The Music Man,” and has nurtured that bug ever since. Some of her most notable roles have been Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” Lizzie Borden in “It’s A Scream” (a show in which she had the pleasure of working under Jim Bray’s direction, alongside cast mates Jodi Bray and Pat Evans), Annie Oakley in “Annie Get Your Gun,” Sunny in the original production “Girl in the Other Room,” alongside fellow cast member Wendy Maquera, and most recently as Mary Flynn in “Merrily We Roll Along.”
